Zone is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Elizabeth Felicella. She was an integral part of the Zone team in the 1990s and managing editor of Zone 6: Incorporations.
She went on to become an esteemed architectural photographer receiving numerous grants and commissions. Her photos were included in many publications, most recently, Minerva Parker Nichols: The Search for a Forgotten Architect while pursuing ongoing photographic investigations such as Sea Level: Five Boroughs at Water’s Edge; Uneasy Spaces: Security; Reading Room: A Catalog of New York City’s Branch Libraries; and Idlewild: An Atlas of the Periphery of Kennedy International Airport.
As the subject of a 2013 New Yorker profile entitled “A Beautiful Branch,” it was said that Elizabeth saw “buildings as history and information and, in the case of the libraries, an incredible sediment of information.” —Robert Sullivan, The New Yorker (June 2013).
